Photographs taken during an artists residency at Tooting Bec Psychiatric Hospital and shown at The Battersea Arts Centre, London in the exhibition 'A Change in Thinking' (1989).

The residency extended for over a period of a year and included the setting up of a darkroom where the artist worked with a range of residents and day patients, taking photographs and teaching black and white printing techniques. Portraits where taken on request in sessions in the social club and in visits to different wards as the hospital and its community prepared for its imminent closure and its eventual demolition.
